Thousands of Nevadans Will Get Free Tax Preparation

LAS VEGAS -- United Way is offering southern Nevadans free tax preparation services starting Jan. 28. in honor of National Earned Income Tax Credit Awareness Day.

Taxpayers who earned less than $49,000 last year are eligible for the free service which is part of United Way's Earn It Keep It Save It program.

"We feel it's an important way for individuals to maximize their opportunity to get all those tax credits they may be eligible for back," said Jeff Ogden, United Way of Southern Nevada.

There are 20 locations around the Las Vegas valley offering the tax preparation over the next few weeks.

Free Tax Preparation Sites Around the Valley

Last year, 5,500 families took advantage of the free tax preparation. It's hoped 7,500 families will take part this year.

You will need to bring a valid identification card, your social security or tax identification number and all relevant tax documents including your W-2, bank or investment statements, child care receipts and mortgage or foreclosure documents.
