LAS VEGAS - Lots of money will change hands over the next two weeks.
"I think we're probably anticipating somewhere between 88 and 90 million that we should be able to handle here in the state," said Red Rock Sportsbook Director Jason McCormick.
Super Bowl weekend is huge in Las Vegas, especially with the Pittsburgh Steelers and Green Bay Packers in the big game.
"The Super Bowl, it's an entire property event that drives people out from all over the country," McCormick said.
The NFL heavyweights will play in Dallas. For those who can't make the game, Las Vegas is the next best thing. "If you're not going to the game, Las Vegas is the destination point for Super Bowl visitors," McCormick said.
Fans are passionate and willing to spend money on the game. Everybody has a favorite.
"It seems like Pittsburgh is the underdog, but I still think Green Bay has a better offense," said fan Donovan Potts.
"I am taking Ben and the Steelers," added fan Bobbi Fitzgerald.
The Packers are two and a half point favorites. That could change in the next two weeks. Some bettors are already picking their teams. "After the games yesterday, I just woke up with a feeling. It's definitely the Steelers," said fan Chuck Scoble.
Last year's Super Bowl generated $82.7 million in wagers. That is a far cry from the 2006 game between Pittsburgh and Seattle which generated a record $94.5 million.
Win or lose, for some, it's all about the party.
"I'll be here to place my bets, but I'll be at home having my party," Fitzgerald said.
"We're going to have some cake, party and food, you know, whoop it up," Scoble said.
The Super Bowl kicks off Sunday, February 6.
