Businesses Back to Hiring in Las Vegas

Posted: Updated:

LAS VEGAS -- More and more jobs are popping up for those who need them. Close to 1,000 positions need to be filled for two of the Las Vegas Strip's newest employers.

Last week, Station Casinos announced they are also hiring 1,000 people. This week, a candy store is expanding and needs about 600 people and a new nightclub is looking for close to 250 people. If you are worried about not having experience in retail or restaurants, they still want to meet you.

"The good thing about today is that Vegas is reinventing itself, as it always does, and here we are with a whole bunch of new jobs available," said Candace Carrell with Chateau Nightclub & Gardens.

Carrell says they are looking to hire at least 200 people.

"We are looking for some fresh new faces -- some people that have good experience in other areas that may want to bring that to our nightclub. We don't necessarily need people that have nightclub experience," she said.

Kate Novak recently graduated from UNLV and is among the thousands looking for a job.

"I think the recession is turning around. I think a lot more jobs will open -- Stations just opened many of them, so I'm excited," she said.

Finding a job would be sweet news for those looking. Candy store Sugar Factory is looking to fill more than 600 positions for it's new store and restaurant.

"This is our first restaurant that we are opening, so it's our flagship store. We are hoping to open up all over the country," said Abel Horner with Sugar Factory.

Horner says the jobs vary from hosts to bussers to retail associates. And anyone who applies will get a face to face meeting.

"We are interviewing anybody that applies. So we are not picking and choosing, we are going to interview you," he said.

They are potential positions that, in the end, could be a tasty deal for job seekers like Kate.

"I was a hospitality major at UNLV, so I have a broad spectrum. Hotel operations is what I am mainly looking for but I am open to anything. I am a blank slate, so I am ready to start," she said.

If the nightclub or retail industry isn't for you, Wednesday there is a job fair with 12 casinos looking to hire. Also, Timet has industrial, manufacturing and engineering positions that need to be filled.
