Medical Center Creates Special Division for Breast Cancer Patients

Posted: Updated:

LAS VEGAS -- After a cancer diagnosis, patients are often overwhelmed by the array of specialists they need to see, to get all their treatments.

Now, Comprehensive Cancer Centers of Nevada has created a Breast Surgery Division. The patient will have all her specialists working together, consulting on her case, and helping her understand exactly what's going on in her case. Dr. Margaret Terhar has joined the new division.

"You know what to expect going into it. And a lot of the problem that people have in the situation that they've gotten diagnosed with a cancer is that they just don't know what's coming next. So, we just give them a little bit of empowerment. Really it's so much better for their psyche," said Dr. Terhar.

Comprehensive Cancer Center says the Breast Surgery Division provides a continuum of care, which takes some of the unnecessary hurdles out of a woman's fight against breast cancer.
