LAS VEGAS -- Floyd Mayweather Jr. was arrested Thursday night at a Las Vegas casino for his misdemeanor battery warrant.

Security guards at an unnamed casino spotted Mayweather just before midnight and alerted Metro police who took him into custody. Mayweather was booked into the Clark County Detention Center. He was released on his own recognizance just before 11 a.m. Friday.

A Las Vegas judge issued a warrant for Mayweather's arrest on Dec. 8. The warrant required Mayweather to turn himself in or face arrest.

The battery allegation stems from a Nov. 15 confrontation over parking tickets between the undefeated champion and a security guard outside Mayweather's home.

Mayweather had been free on bail on unrelated felony charges stemming from a September dispute with the mother of his children.
