Thousands of people are running up the Las Vegas Strip, including dozens of people dressed as Elvis. At each mile, there is a live band playing to encourage the runners.

At 8 a.m., about 60 couples got married at a run-through chapel along the route right in front of the Venetian Hotel and Casino.

Runner Josh Cox won the Marathon. Cox finished the race with a time of 2:25. Lisa Veneziano was the first woman to finish the race. She completed the course in 3:04.

The first runner in the half-marathon crossed the finish line just one hour after the race started. Runner Scott Bauhs won the half-marathon in 1:02. Jen Rhines was the first woman to cross the half-marathon finish line. She ran 13 miles in 1:14.

Road closures began around 3 a.m. along the marathon route, snarling traffic along the course throughout the valley. The marathon started at 7 a.m. on Las Vegas Blvd. in front of Mandalay Bay.
