CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) -- Gov.-elect Brian Sandoval was to meet Tuesday with state Budget Director Andrew Clinger to begin discussing the budget for the next two-year spending cycle.
Sandoval, who takes office Jan. 3, has said he wants to "reset" the budget based on 2007 revenues of about $5.3 billion, about $1.2 billion less than the current budget. The difference would require cuts of about 16 percent.
State agencies under outgoing Gov. Jim Gibbons have already submitted budget requests totaling $8.3 billion for the biennium that begins July 1.
