Heck Beats Titus by Slim Margin

Posted: Updated:

LAS VEGAS -- Tea party favorite Joe Heck has ousted Democratic Rep. Dina Titus in a close fight that helped Republicans seize control of the House.

Heck is a former state senator and an emergency room physician who emerged victorious Tuesday after becoming a spokesman for tea party angst over the economy and Democratic leadership.

Heck, 49, blames Democrats for Nevada's record 14.4 unemployment and has blasted the White House for diverting public dollars to stimulus projects that created insufficient jobs. He had the financial and political support of national Republican leaders eager to take back the House.
