Senator Harry Reid and Sharon Angle Both Speak at Separate Political Conventions

LAS VEGAS -- Two candidates fighting for Nevada's U.S. Senate seat, were in town over the weekend hoping the new wave of political blogging, will carry them all the way to Washington. In addition, one candidate received a major endorsement Saturday.

Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman officially endorsed Nevada Senator Harry Reid during a tour of Las Vegas Saturday afternoon. And while it's a start, candidates are learning quickly that technology and politics can make or break a candidacy.

Nevada's political power could come down to the power of the personal computer as the practice of blogging could be a huge factor in deciding Nevada's next Senator.

After touring the area with Mayor Goodman, Senator Reid was scheduled to be one of many guest speakers at the Netroots Nation conference.

"It's not just the left wing bloggers; the left wing started it, but the right wing blogs too. What has it done? It's created conversation in America that is good for America," said Senator Harry Reid, Nevada(D).

"We have an opportunity an opportunity for real solutions. We can do better. Our country deserves better," said Sharon Angle, Candidate for U.S. Senate(R-Nevada)

Reid's opponent, Sharon Angle spoke to bloggers on the right, during the RightOnline convention Saturday morning.

8 News Now tried to get comment from Sharon Angle regarding the blogging trend, and even though we were promised the chance to talk to her; she was whisked away, with no comments.

During her moments on stage Angle discussed topics from education and healthcare to immigration. She also took time to clear the air about her views on Social Security.

"I've never said that I wanted to eliminate, I've always said I've wanted to save Social Security by paying back," said Angle.

Recent polls from 8 News Now shows Reid leading in the polls against Angle and Reid hopes, the power of the blog, can propel him in November.

"I've been in a number of political races over the years. The only poll numbers that matter are the ones from Election Day. The rest are just things for people to talk about. The only thing that matters are on Election Day," said Reid.

In addition to Senator Reid, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was also scheduled to speak at Netroots.

Joe Heck who is running against Dina Titus for Congressional District 3 also spoke at the RightOnline convention Saturday
