LAS VEGAS -- A poll commissioned by 8 News NOW and the Las Vegas Review Journal has Nevada Senator Harry Reid leading Republican candidate Sharron Angle.

The poll conducted by Mason-Dixon Polling and Research was released in Friday's edition of the Review Journal.

The poll asked residents in Nevada who they would vote for if the election were held today. Forty-four-percent of respondents said they would vote for Reid. Thirty-seven-percent said Sharron Angle. Four-percent said they would vote for someone else. Five-percent said none of the candidates. Ten-percent remain undecided.

The poll also asked a question on Social Security, which has been a hot-button issue in the election.

Forty-one-percent said young workers should be allowed to "opt out" of Social Security and instead open private investment accounts, as long as those who have already paid into the Social Security system receive their benefits as promised.

Forty-six-percent said allowing investment in private accounts is too financially risky for both young workers and those currently in the Social Security system. The current system should be left alone for now.

Another thirteen-percent said they weren't sure.

A total of 625 registered Nevada voters were polled from July 12 through July 14. The margin for error is no more than +/- 4-percentage points.
