RENO, Nev. - The U.S. Attorney's Office in Nevada charged two men on Wednesday for killing five wild horses on federal land.

Authorities say on November 29, 2009, 44-year-old Todd Davis and 36-year-old Joshua Keathley shot and killed the horses in the Buckhorn Horse Management area in Washoe County. Davis is an employee of the Pershing County Water Conservation District. Keathley's occupation is not known.

If convicted, they each face up to one year in prison and a $100,000 fine. They are scheduled to appear in court on April 27.

Several agencies are assisting with the investigation, including the Bureau of Land Management, the Washoe County Sheriff's Office and the California Department of Fish and Game.
