I-Team: Jury Begins Deliberations in Alleged Medical Mafia Member's Trail

Posted: Updated:

LAS VEGAS -- A jury is now deliberating the fate of alleged Medical Mafia lynchpin Howard Awand and his wife. Closing arguments wrapped up and the jury has begun deliberating.

Thursday morning, Awand took the stand and told the jury he knew he owed hundreds of thousands of dollars to the IRS and that he planned to pay it somewhere down the road. Awand said no one ever told him he could go to jail for not paying his taxes.

Under cross examination, Awand admitted that he had lied about his qualifications as a medical consultant and that he and his wife spent millions of dollars on luxuries including cars and artwork, rather than pay their taxes.
