Brian Loftus is currently the Traffic Anchor for 8 News Now in the morning. He joined the 8 News Now team in September, 2009.
Brian was born in Chicago, Illinois. He graduated from Lyons Township High School, earned a B.A. in English from the University of Iowa, and a Masters of Arts in Teaching from Loyola Marymount University.
After teaching and coaching for a number of years at both the middle school and high school levels, Brian decided to pursue broadcasting as a new career path. His broadcasting career was launched in Los Angeles radio at KLSX (97.1 FM Talk) in 2002 as the producer/writer, and one of the on-air personalities of the Film Freak show, a radio program which interviewed actors and directors promoting their latest film project.
Brian made the leap from radio to TV broadcasting in 2006 as a sports reporter for Crown City News in Pasadena, CA, followed in 2007-2008 by feature reporting at KMPH-TV (FOX) in Fresno, CA covering every live shot imaginable on the popular, five-hour morning show, "Great Day."
Brian and his wife Mae were married in 2007, and they are proud parents to two beautiful, energetic daughters: Clare and Vivian.
Brian enjoys swimming, biking, and reading. He is an avid fan of the Chicago Bears and Cubs.
