AARP has set up a toll-free national hotline for consumers who need help with the digitial transition.
On June 12, 2009, television stations will stop broadcasting their analog signal and begin using a digital signal. The change will result in a better television picture.
Consumers who don't have a digitial television will need a converter box. Money saving coupons for the boxes are available but the deadline for applying is March 31st and there is currently a waiting list.
Consumers can call 1-877-698-8068, Monday through Friday, 8 am to 10 pm EST, to ask questions and receive technical assistance about setting up converter boxes and antennae. Spanish language operators are available as well. The call center will be operational through March 31st.
AARP has also set up a website with information and LasVegasNOW.com also has a Digital TV Guide.
