A massive manhunt is underway for Darren Mack, the Reno man accused of killing his wife and shooting a family court judge.
Forty-five-year-old Mack is the cousin of former Las Vegas City Councilman Michael Mack.
Reno family court Judge Charles Weller, 53, was shot Monday as he stood near a window at the Washoe County courthouse. The shots were fired through the judge's office window. Weller is in serious but stable condition. A woman who works in the judge's office also suffered minor injuries from flying glass.
Judge Weller was presiding over Mack's divorce case.
On Monday afternoon, hours after the judge's shooting, police found the body of 39-year-old Charla Mack in the garage of her apartment building.
Deputy Chief Johns said, "The relationship with Darren Mack appears to have been some type of proceeding related to divorce. I have no record of Darren Mack has a criminal history. He is a local businessman, as far as our records relate for the Reno Police Department. His family has been involved in business here for sometime. The suspect in this case, Darren Mack, is known to have access to fire arms. If somebody knows his location they need to contact the police department and give us that information."
The estranged couple have a 7-year-old daughter between them and two other children.
Reno police are asking anyone with information on Mack's whereabouts to contact them at 775-334-2188. Mack may be driving a 2006 silver colored Ford Explorer, with California license plate 5por272.
Courthouses in the greater Las Vegas area have been put on high alert because of the shooting.
