
(Apr. 14) -- In a suprise announcement, Eyewitness News has obtained exlcusive information that Nevada Supreme Court Justice Deborah Agosti will not run for re-election. Eyewitness News sources tell us that decision was made because of medical reasons. Justice Agosti has scheduled a news conference for 10 a.m. Thursday in Carson City. Eyewitness News will have a crew at the Supreme Court Thursday for that announcement.
Also there is word that University Chancellor Jane Nichols is resigning her position. Nichols is stepping down for health reasons because she suffers from meniere's disease, a condition that involves a sudden and dramatic loss of hearing and vertigo. Her resignation will take place by October 15th. Nichols has been chancellor of the University and Community College system since September 2000.
Clark County Assemblyman Chad Christensen is facing stiff fines from the State of Nevada. Secretary of State Dean Heller announced Wednesday he has fined the assemblyman a total of $4,500 for three campaign finance reporting offenses. The state says Christensen provided incomplete information on his January 2004 contribution and expense report. Christensen has not commented on the fines.
