There are several events happening in the Las Vegas Valley to celebrate Earth Day.

Project Green Earthday is taking place at Silver Springs Recreation Center in Henderson on April 25 from 7:30 a.m. to noon. You can help with trail building and trash clean up at the Pittman Wash. For more information, call 651-5874.

Clark County Earth Day Rendezvous is taking place on April 25 at the Sam Boyd Stadium's Star Nursery Field and William Bennett Airfield. The event is from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. It will be a county-wide celebration that will highlight the importance of protecting and respecting our environment by encouraging the fostering of behavioral changes in our daily lives that will create a sustainable earth.

Galaxy Cannery Theatres will honor Earth Day with the opening of the movie Earth on April 22. Galaxy Theatres is also teaming up with The Springs Preserve by providing Earth movie prize packages to the winners of their Green Dreamers Art and Science Fair. The event is Saturday, April 25 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Springs Preserve.

Home Depot is also celebrating with its Eco Options, which is a program that allows customers to more easily identify green products. Home Depot will be giving away 1 million Eco-Smart soft white CFLs to customers starting April 19 while supplies last. There will also be buy one get one free on seed packets. There will also be workshops.
